Message from the Principal
Welcome to Lincoln Avenue Elementary School! I invite you to explore our website and to use it as a tool to help you learn more about our school, stay informed, and become an active participant in the education of your child. A great deal of the success of Lincoln Avenue Elementary students is due to the partnership created between the home and school. I encourage you to visit the website often, stay in contact with your child's teacher, and to become a member of PTA.
Lincoln Avenue Elementary is a Kindergarten through fourth grade school. As a staff we are committed to excellence in education for every child. Our strong curriculum is based on the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards in the subjects of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. In addition, the students will have instruction in Art, Music and Physical Education also in accordance with NYS Standards. Over the past several years we have slowly begun to incorporate flexible seating into our classrooms with our grade 2-4 classrooms offering a full range of options while our K and 1 classrooms offer the more traditional tables and large rug areas. The children and staff have responded very well to this new concept of classroom design.
To help inspire and prepare our students for college and career-readiness our teachers encourage the students to use the 4C's: communication, creative problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration as they explore various content areas throughout the day. Please look for monthly newsletters/updates from your child's teacher for more information on how this is occurring in your child's class.
As a learning community we value the use of technology in the classroom. Each classroom has a SMART Board and one desktop computer. We are 1:1 with Chromebooks in grades 3 and 4 and iPads in grade 2. In Kindergarten and first grade we are 2:1
Lincoln Avenue Elementary is fortunate to have an outstanding PTA. This year's co-Presidents are Mrs. Julie Phelan and Mrs. Alicia McGlashin. The PTA consistently goes above and beyond in their efforts to support students and staff. Through their active participation they have provided our school with new technology, various assemblies, quality family events, and so much more. I commend the efforts of the PTA and encourage additional participation from other members of our community. Events occur during the day and in the evening to accommodate all schedules.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this an exciting and successful year for our students. You can follow our adventures throughout the school year on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter all under the name of "Lincoln Ave Lions" - Lincoln Ave School social media, although it has our address listed, is not affiliated with our school so please be careful not to use that site. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (845) 620-3850 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
With Lincoln Pride,
Kathleenann M. Cool
