12-4-20 Parent Survey re: Student Learning Model

Dear Pearl River School District Parents,

We want to make sure that we are as prepared as possible for a return to in-person hybrid instruction.  We recognize that some parents may be considering a change to or from one learning model to another during this time period.  Understanding parents’ intentions for the days and weeks ahead is important to us as we prepare to support each learning model, in-person hybrid and remote accordingly.  Please respond to this survey by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 9th so that we can adjust our staffing to best meet the needs of all of our students.  Please complete one survey for each child in your family so we can plan using the most accurate information.

Thank you for participating in this survey.

12-3-20 Yellow Zone Testing: 20% Anticipated

    December 3, 2020

Dear Pearl River School District Community,

I am writing to report that we anticipate meeting the 20% Yellow Zone testing requirement for all five schools based upon the tests that we have administered and the ones that parents committed to doing as per their conversations with our school nurses.  Please submit your test results to your child’s school nurse as soon as possible so that we can meet the reporting deadline next Tuesday.

We thank all of our parents, faculty and staff who volunteered to be part of this first testing cohort.

As soon as all of the data is processed, we will share the results of numbers tested and the positivity rate. As I mentioned previously, if the positivity rate of the 20% tested is lower than the 7-day average positivity rate of the yellow zone, then we do not need to continue to test. If our positivity rate is not lower, then we will need to continue having another 20% of students, faculty and staff test for COVID-19.  As of today, the current 7-day positivity rate for our cluster zone is 4.8%.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Marco Pochintesta
