Message from the Principal
Welcome to Lincoln Avenue Elementary School! I invite you to explore our website and to use it as a tool to help you learn more about our school, stay informed, and become an active participant in the education of your child. A great deal of the success of Lincoln Avenue Elementary students is due to the partnership created between the home and school. I encourage you to visit the website often, stay in contact with your child's teacher, and to become a member of PTA.
Lincoln Avenue Elementary is a Kindergarten through fourth grade school. As a staff we are committed to excellence in education for every child. Our strong curriculum is based on the New York State Learning Standards in the subjects of English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. In addition, the students will have instruction in Art, Music and Physical Education also in accordance with NYS Standards. Over the past two years we have slowly begun to incorporate flexible seating into our classrooms with some rooms offering a full range of options while others are more traditional with a more limited set of options. The children and staff have responded very well to this new concept of classroom design.
To help inspire and prepare our students for college and career-readiness our teachers encourage the students to use creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving as they explore various content areas throughout the day. Please look for monthly newsletters/updates from your child's teacher for more information on how this is occurring in your child's class.
As a learning community we value the use of technology in the classroom. Each classroom has a SMART Board and one desktop computer. In grades 3 and 4 we are 1:1 with Chrome books and in grades K-2 we are 2:1 with iPads.
Lincoln Avenue Elementary is fortunate to have an outstanding PTA. This year's co-Presidents are Mrs. Liz Hayes and Mrs. Jennifer Whelan. The PTA consistently goes above and beyond in their efforts to support students and staff. Through their active participation they have provided our school with new technology, various assemblies, quality family events, and so much more. I commend the efforts of the PTA and encourage additional participation from other members of our community. Events occur during the day and in the evening to accommodate all schedules.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this an exciting and successful year for our students. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (845) 620-3850 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
With Lincoln Pride,
Kathleenann M. Cool
